A Culture of Safety & Accessiblity
Fun & Safety. Both should be a part of every day on the water. So many great strides have been made to bring more access to people across all areas of society and recreational boating is no different. Of course, there are always opportunities for learning and improving the safety and accessibility of boating facilities and that is our passion.
Creating a Culture of Safety and Accessibility means Increasing awareness of and access to, the safe enjoyment of recreational boating facilities for people of all abilities through community outreach, education programs, and proactively working with facilities owners and managers to identify opportunities to increase access to — and the safety of — their facilities.
Improving access to people of all abilities in all communities includes things like providing safe places and equipment that allow people to get to and enjoy recreating in their communities beautiful natural resources without risk of injury to themselves, others or equipment and property.

We help foster a culture of safety and accessibility through proactive initiatives like free community events, water safety classes, free facility safety surveys, upgrades to equipment (like docks and equipment to support movements of people of all abilities from their point of arrival to the water’s edge; sufficient space and egress to accommodate safe, unobstructed transition from land to watercraft; and safe, accessible means conducting launch and retrieval for individuals with their own watercraft); plus harbor and marina staff training, event programming and more.
We provide ongoing support for all these efforts through public, private and corporate partnerships across the marine industry to ensure recreational boating facilities can create and sustain safe and enjoyable access for all.
